Dota 2: New Heroes Coming To Captains Mode

The return of Traxex to Dota 2 Captains Mode(Tournament Version)!

After two reworks and months of public matchmaking testing, Traxex, The Drow Ranger returns to Dota 2′s Captains Mode. Many pub players will now get to see whether this supposedly overpowered hero sinks or swims in the competitive scene. Drow is a strong mid-to-late game carry with the unenviable need for a solo lane. This could potentially change the laning configurations for some team compositions and bring forth new strategies. Her passive ability makes her a potential boon for pushing lineups using ranged creeps. With so many major tournaments underway, it’s unclear when we may see her pop up.

Tusk Enters Dota 2′s Captains Mode(Tournament Version)!

It’s been nearly a month since his release, but it appears Tusk is on his way to the tourney scene. With him, he brings hard team fight initiation and a short disable that doubles as a nice nuke. He does have flaws though, he’s not a strong off laner and needs decent farm to be effective. It will be interesting to see where teams decide to lane him. He has the potential to be a strong team fight oriented strategy pick, but will his weaknesses overshadow that?

Three More Enter Dota 2′s Captains Mode(Latest Version)!

Bristleback, Slark, and Skywrath Mage are ready for teams to begin tinkering with in scrims before going into Tournament Version next week. Bristleback will likely become a fixture in team fight comps early on. He has great durability with an amazing stacking slow and moderate damage output. He may very well unseat or at least accompany Dark Seer as the game’s most annoying hero to go up against. The only big question will be where he lanes. Perhaps he’s suited for the off lane?

Skywrath Mage was only introduced last week, so there could be a bit of time before we see him used. He’s a strong support that can harass and carry early on, with the potential to extend the longevity of other nukers. His magic resistance debuff makes him and his allies damage spells more viable in the late game, and can negate the passive strength of Anti-Mage. He could be a great fit in intelligence based lineups, and would be a great compliment to nukers like Lina.

Slark may have trouble in the current meta game. His strengths are largely beneficial only to him, and with Bounty Hunter so popular these days, he can’t be relied on to initiate. His ability to purge his own debuffs is a plus, but his lack of reliable carry potential means he could fall by the way side along with pub heroes Pudge and Riki.

These changes are expected to hit sometime Thursday night, worldwide. You can check ou all the other bug fixes over on the dev forums.
